Monday 10/24/2016: Cy Young winners announced
The American League Cy Young winner was announced today, with Boston's right-hander Juan Ibanez taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. Juan has a record of 16-5 this season, with an ERA of 2.17. In 241 Innings he was able to strike out 250 batters. He's 1st in the American League in ERA and 4th in wins! Ibanez wins the award for the 5th time in his 14-year career. Numbers Wargo will never forget this year. His dominating season convinced the National League to name Philadelphia's right-hander the Cy Young winner of 2016. His ERA of 2.16 helped him to a 24-1 record this year. He struck out 195 and walked 73 in 208.1 innings. He's 3rd in the National League in ERA and 1st in wins!
 
Monday 10/24/2016: MVP winners announced
A season for the ages earned Toronto's centerfielder Jason Holle the American League MVP this year. Jason has gone 237 for 588 (.403) this season, hitting 16 longballs and driving in 102 runs. He has scored 125 runs on his own. He's 1st in the American League in batting! The 2016 National League MVP winner has been announced as well. It's Montreal's leftfielder Javier Vasquez who really had a great offensive year. Javier is hitting .322 this year, with 180 hits in 559 at bats. He has driven in 128 runs, slugging .623. He's 10th in the National League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
 
Monday 10/24/2016: Rookie of the Year winners announced
Toronto's Jason Holle was almost in tears when he heard the news. The 23 year old centerfielder was named the Rookie of the Year winner in the American League today. What a way to begin a career! Holle has hit for a .403 average this season. He has 69 extra base hits along with 347 total bases, resulting in a .590 slugging percentage. He's 1st in the American League in batting! Andrew Cambell was named the National League Rookie of the Year winner today. Montreal's rightfielder put up pretty good numbers for a rookie this year. This 27 year old kid will probably have a long and successful career! Andrew has gone 174 for 568 (.306) this season, hitting 26 longballs and driving in 104 runs. He has scored 99 runs on his own.
 
Friday 10/7/2016: Boston's Jeffcoat severely injured, out for season
BOSTON - Boston's leftfielder John Jeffcoat suffered a season ending injury when he was struck by a pitch from Kansas City's Jackie Depalma. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Jeffcoat was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Broken Wrist. His season numbers are: .340 AVG, 207 hits, 37 doubles, 5 triples and 7 bombs, along with 84 RBI and 109 runs scored. He's 6th in the American League in batting!
 
Tuesday 10/4/2016: Damien Reddish pitches 2-hit shutout against Anaheim
ANAHEIM - Tampa Bay's right-hander Damien Reddish is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Anaheim found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Reddish 4th shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 12th shutouts in his career. Reddish (16-9) struck out 9 and walked 1, throwing 72 of 101 pitches for strikes. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.' Tampa Bay's shortstop Herbert Bender stroked 1 hit in 4 AB, blasting a homerun, with 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Reddish. Tampa Bay scored 3 runs on 8 hits.
 
Saturday 10/1/2016: San Francisco's Torres named Pitcher of the Month
The best month of September in the American League certainly had Kansas City's right-hander Alfred Rucker, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He went 5-0 in September and finished the month with an ERA of 1.33. He struck out 25 in 40.2 innings. Alfred also fired a shutout. His ERA of 3.14 helped him to a 18-6 record this year. He struck out 148 and walked 64 in 217.2 innings. Alfred has pitched 3 shutouts and 5 complete games. He's 2nd in the American League in ERA and 1st in wins! The best month of September in the National League certainly had San Francisco's lefty Joe Torres, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. His record of 3-0 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 37.2 innings of work he allowed just 31 hits while striking out 26, compiling an ERA of just 0.96. Joe also fired a shutout. His ERA of 1.92 helped him to a 15-5 record this year. He struck out 132 and walked 18 in 173.1 innings. Joe has pitched 3 shutouts and 3 complete games. He's 2nd in the National League in ERA and 9th in wins!
 
Saturday 10/1/2016: Red hot Bushong and Rios win Batter of the Month award
It's the 1st time that the American League Batter of the Month award goes to Kansas City's rightfielder Ronald Bushong. Ronald pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .402 with 7 and 21 RBI while slugging .667. He has hit 34 homeruns while batting .341 this season. His 203 hits and 51 walks add up to a .391 on-base percentage. He's 5th in the American League in batting, 5th in homeruns and 4th in RBI! The National League's best player of the month was Florida's Carlos Rios, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. Carlos was on fire, hitting .306 with 12 homeruns and 26 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .317, Carlos hit .258 and slugged .545. He has collected 121 runs batted in this year. He's 3rd in the National League in RBIs and 1st in homeruns!
 
Monday 9/26/2016: Jeremy Haney blanks Colorado with a 2-hitter
MONTREAL - Montreal's Jeremy Haney overmatched the opposing hitters all day long. Colorado had no chance, collecting just 2 hits against the right-hander. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Haney (9-15) fanned 8 and walked 2, throwing 111 pitches. Javier Vasquez helped Haney at the plate, he collected 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate. The final score of the game was 1-0.
 
Monday 9/26/2016: James Bowen out for 5 weeks
OAKLAND - Oakland's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, catcher James Bowen, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 5 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Inflamed Hamstring Muscle. He has hit 10 longballs while batting .339 this season. His 170 hits and 36 walks add up to a .385 on-base percentage. He's 8th in the American League in batting!
 
Monday 9/26/2016: Wren (KC) and Whitehead (MON) win P.O.W. award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Kansas City's Ray Wren this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Ray pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .458 with 3 HR and 9 RBI while slugging .875. The National League Player of the Week award goes to Lance Whitehead, Montreal's starting third baseman. Lance was on fire, hitting .500 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.
 
Saturday 9/24/2016: Brett Myers NO-HITS New York (N)
NEW YORK (N) - Great things can happen when you throw strikes. And Brett Myers did so today, in a no-hit shutout against New York (N). 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches. I'm so happy that it was enough to pitch such a great game.' Myers (14-8) fanned 8 and walked 2, throwing 100 pitches. Jonah Quezada helped Myers at the plate, he went 3 for 3, hitting a double. The final score of the game was 1-0.
 
Saturday 9/24/2016: Atlanta's Zito out for the season
ATLANTA - Atlanta's ace Barry Zito will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against Colorado on Saturday. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Torn Ligament Elbow which will require surgery. Opposing players hit .267 against Barry this season. While posting an ERA of 5.21 he went 5-17 in 32 starts, fanning 178 and walking 76 hitters.
 
Friday 9/23/2016: Patrick Fowler pitches his 2nd shutout of the season
ST. LOUIS - Patrick Fowler took the mound and never left. And St. Louis hitters couldn't touch him at all. Arizona's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 2 career shutouts in 75 games started. Fowler (12-10) fanned 8 and walked 4, throwing 140 pitches. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Armando Rico provided Arizona with the offense Fowler needed as he finished 2 for 4, hitting two dingers, scoring three runs and driving in 6 runs. Arizona improved its record to 76-80, scoring 13 runs on 15 hits.
 
Thursday 9/22/2016: Mark Buehrle out for 5-6 weeks
ANAHEIM - Anaheim is without its southpaw Mark Buehrle for at least 5-6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Douglas Rosati in a game against New York (A). His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Buehrle was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Strained Back Muscle. Mark has a record of 14-6 this season, with an ERA of 4.96. In 159.2 Innings he was able to strike out 123 batters. He's 8th in the American League in wins!
 
Tuesday 9/20/2016: Cincinnati's Camilo Rubalcava ropes five hits
ATLANTA - On Tuesday, Cincinnati's third baseman Camilo Rubalcava displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against Atlanta, punishing their pitchers with five hits. His 2nd hit, off Gavin Floyd in the 4th inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in left field. A pitch from Gavin Floyd in the 6th inning left his bat for a RBI double. His 5th hit was a double off Samuel Iglesias in the 9th inning. He had singles in the 2nd and in the 8th . Camilo did drive in 3 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He's having a very good season so far, batting .328. Cincinnati scored 10 runs on 14 hits.
 
Monday 9/19/2016: Oakland's Aranda wins Player of the Week award
The American League Player of the Week award goes to Alonso Aranda, Oakland's starting rightfielder. He had an on base percentage of .607 and hit .500, while driving in 12 runs. Arizona's pitcher Willie Delarosa had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National League Player of the Week. Delarosa was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way he struck out 18 in 15.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Willie has a record of 16-11 this season, with an ERA of 3.01. In 227.1 Innings he was able to strike out 229 batters. He has 4 complete games and 4 shutouts. He's 5th in the National League in wins!
 
Saturday 9/17/2016: Willie Delarosa pitches 1-hit shutout against Atlanta
ARIZONA - All you need to win is a dominating pitching performance. And Arizona's Willie Delarosa did so today, in a 1-hit shutout against Atlanta. Delarosa (16-11) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 9. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Alex Escobar helped Delarosa at the plate, he finished 2 for 3, homering once, scoring two runs and driving in 3 runs. The final score of the game was 9-0.
 
Wednesday 9/14/2016: Lars Ulrich fires 2-hitter against New York (N)
LOS ANGELES - Lars Ulrich had some fun again. New York (N) hitters did not. Los Angeles' left-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 5 career shutouts in 219 games started. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Ulrich (11-7) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 1, throwing 111 pitches. William Terpstra helped Ulrich at the plate, he went 3 for 4, homering once, scoring 2 runs and collecting 2 RBI. Los Angeles improved its record to 95-53, scoring 8 runs on 12 hits.
 
Monday 9/12/2016: Bill Mcnitt shuts out New York (A) on 2 hits
MINNESOTA - Bill Mcnitt took the mound and never left. And New York (A) hitters couldn't touch him at all. Minnesota's left-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. The American League's best player of the week was Toronto's James Medina, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Medina helped his team with an average of .500 and 10 RBI in 20 at bats. It's the 4th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Cincinnati's leftfielder Raul Jimenez. Raul went 11 for 25 (.440), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 10 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .348, Raul hit .289 and slugged .476. He has collected 89 runs batted in this year.
 
Monday 9/5/2016: Player of the Week honors go to Aybar and Stewart
Willy Aybar from Oakland wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. Aybar helped his team with an average of .591 and 9 RBI in 22 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 14 games. The National League Player of the Week award goes to Rudolf Stewart, Chicago (N)'s starting rightfielder. Stewart helped his team with an average of .292 and 13 RBI in 24 at bats.
 
Thursday 9/1/2016: Gutierrez (ANA) and Stork (CHN) win monthly pitcher award
Anaheim's Raul Gutierrez had a terrific August, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. His record of 5-0 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 37 innings of work he allowed just 35 hits while striking out 30, compiling an ERA of just 1.22. In 14 starts this year Raul struck out 77 batters in 97 innings of work. His ERA is 4.64, his record 8-5. John Stork couldn't have pitched much better than he did in August, and the National League thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. He went 5-1 in August and finished the month with an ERA of 1.35. He struck out 31 in 46.2 innings. John pitched a shutout as well. Opposing players hit .226 against John this season. While posting an ERA of 2.60 he went 10-6 in 20 starts, fanning 103 and walking 27 hitters. John has pitched 2 shutouts and 2 complete games.
 
Thursday 9/1/2016: Montreal's Vasquez named Batter of the Month
It's the 2nd time that the American League Batter of the Month award goes to Boston's centerfielder Eugene Liu. Eugene was on fire, hitting .353 with 14 homeruns and 32 RBI. Liu has hit 32 homeruns this year while batting .306. He adds 15 doubles, along with 74 runs scored. The National League's best player of the month was Montreal's Javier Vasquez, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He hit .370 with 22 RBI and slugged .717 in 92 at bats. Javier has gone 154 for 473 (.326) this season, hitting 39 longballs and driving in 111 runs. He has scored 80 runs on his own. He's 7th in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
 
Monday 8/29/2016: Texas' Shannon wins Player of the Week award
Stanley Shannon from Texas wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. He hit .520 with 3 RBI and slugged .720 in 25 at bats. Stanley has gone 154 for 507 (.304) this season, hitting 9 homeruns and driving in 60 runs. He has scored 68 runs on his own. It's the 4th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Montreal's leftfielder Javier Vasquez. Javier was on fire, hitting .440 with 2 HR and 7 RBI. This year Vasquez drove in 108 and scored 78 runs while batting .324 with 37 bombs. He's 6th in the National League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
 
Monday 8/22/2016: Joseph Slifer dominates New York (N), throws NO-HITTER
NEW YORK (N) - Joseph Slifer had some fun again. REAL fun. New York (N) hitters did not. Houston's right-hander fired a no-hitter in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 4 career shutouts in 133 games started. James Halladay spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he walked with 1 away in the 8th inning. Slifer (13-10) struck out an astounding 13 and walked 3, throwing 87 of 145 pitches for strikes. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches. I'm so happy that it was enough to pitch such a great game.' Aaron Marquez provided Houston with the offense Slifer needed as he finished 1 for 3, and driving in 3 runs. The final score of the game was 3-0.
 
Monday 8/22/2016: San Francisco's Murray wins Player of the Week award
Minnesota's pitcher Kenneth Crum had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Crum was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.65. Along the way he struck out 5 in 16.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Craig Murray wins his 4th Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .478 with 9 RBI and slugged .913 in 23 at bats. Craig has gone 126 for 421 (.299) this season, hitting 22 taters and driving in 86 runs. He has scored 69 runs on his own.
 
Sunday 8/21/2016: Houston's McKibben severely injured
HOUSTON - When it rains, it pours. Houston's ace Jonah McKibben will not pitch for at least 4 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against St. Louis where he left the field in the 9th inning. Houston wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that McKibben had suffered a Ruptured Bicep Tendon. Jonah has a record of 13-5 this season, with an ERA of 2.25. In 184 Innings he was able to strike out 132 batters. Jonah has pitched 2 shutouts and 2 complete games. He's 3rd in the National League in ERA and 7th in wins!
 
Saturday 8/20/2016: Kenneth Crum turns in great performance against New York (A)
NEW YORK (A) - Minnesota's Kenneth Crum overmatched the opposing hitters all day long. New York (A) had no chance, collecting just 2 hits against the right-hander. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him.' Crum (6-10) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 2. Minnesota's designated hitter Wilson Blazquez got 2 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, and driving in 2 runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Crum. The final score of the game was 5-0.
 
Friday 8/19/2016: Houston's Johnston out for the season
HOUSTON - Houston's leftfielder Brandon Johnston will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Houston and St. Louis. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Johnston collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After being taken to a local hospital, Johnston was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Achilles Tendon. While compiling an on base percentage of .310, Brandon hit .248 and slugged .397. He has collected 57 runs batted in this year.
 
Monday 8/15/2016: Player of the Week honors go to Holle and Zocher II
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Toronto's Jason Holle this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Holle helped his team with an average of .545 and 6 RBI in 22 at bats. Thorsten Zocher II from Atlanta wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. Thorsten was on fire, hitting .611 with 1 HR and 7 RBI.
 
Monday 8/8/2016: Winston Sae (ARI) will miss 5 weeks
ARIZONA - Arizona's players were scared when they had to watch Winston Sae suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Colorado. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Sae will probaby miss 5 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Fractured Ulna. He has hit 10 bombs while batting .302 this season. His 77 hits and 33 walks add up to a .378 on-base percentage.
 
Monday 8/8/2016: Blackmore and Young win Player of the Week award
Edmund Blackmore from Detroit wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. Edmund went 14 for 26 (.538), while hitting 1 HR and collecting 7 RBI. It's the 1st time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to St. Louis' leftfielder Terry Young. In 27 at bats he hit .444 with 4 HR and 10 RBI. Young has hit for a .266 average this season. He has 38 extra base hits along with 186 total bases, resulting in a .449 slugging percentage.
 
Tuesday 8/2/2016: Edward Pylant pitches his 1st shutout of the season
HOUSTON - Houston's right-hander Edward Pylant will never forget this day. The 28-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against New York (N) on Tuesday. Pylant (8-5) struck out 4 and issued 2 BB, throwing 66 of 109 pitches for strikes. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' John Showman provided Houston with the offense Pylant needed as he went 3 for 5, hitting a homerun, scoring 2 runs. Houston improved its record to 66-43, scoring 9 runs on 14 hits.
 
Monday 8/1/2016: Tampa Bay's Schumaker earns Pitcher of the Month award
Tampa Bay's Gilbert Schumaker had a terrific July, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. His ERA of just 1.16 helped him to a 5-0 record in July. He worked 31 innings, striking out 31 hitters while walking 15. Opposing players hit .237 against Gilbert this season. While posting an ERA of 3.88 he went 7-4 in 14 starts, fanning 76 and walking 37 hitters. Randey Dorame pitched like a legend in July, and the National League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He went 2-1 in July and finished the month with an ERA of 0.62. He struck out 22 in 29 innings. Randey has a record of 7-4 this season, with an ERA of 2.60. In 103.2 Innings he was able to strike out 103 batters.
 
Monday 8/1/2016: Philadelphia's Millikan named Batter of the Month
It's the 1st time that the American League Batter of the Month award goes to Tampa Bay's first baseman Jackie Marques. Marques helped his team with an average of .433 and 28 RBI in 90 at bats. Jackie has gone 99 for 357 (.277) this season, hitting 14 homeruns and driving in 51 runs. He has scored 54 runs on his own. It's the 2nd time that the National League Batter of the Month award goes to Philadelphia's first baseman Fritz Millikan. He had an on base percentage of .467 and hit .406, while driving in 24 runs. Millikan has hit 36 taters this year while batting .324. He adds 27 doubles, along with 89 runs scored. He's 8th in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!

The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Minnesota's Kent Boots this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Kent went 13 for 29 (.448), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 10 RBI. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. The National League's best player of the week was Atlanta's Vincent Scala, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Vincent went 13 for 23 (.565), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 6 RBI. Vincent has gone 109 for 360 (.303) this season, hitting 13 bombs and driving in 49 runs. He has scored 48 runs on his own.
 
Friday 7/29/2016: Jeremy Haney dominates Colorado, gives up just one hit
MONTREAL - Jeremy Haney had an unexpectedly great performance against Colorado on Friday, pitching a 1-hitter for his 1st shutout of the season. Haney (6-9) fanned 6 and walked 2, throwing 106 pitches. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' The hitting star for Montreal was centerfielder Andrew Cambell, he finished 2 for 4, scoring two runs and collecting 2 RBI. Montreal improved its record to 53-52, scoring 8 runs on 10 hits.
 
Thursday 7/28/2016: Kevin Edson out for 6 weeks
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's third baseman Kevin Edson will miss at least 6 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. Edson was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Torn Groin Muscle. Kevin is hitting .355 this year, with 111 hits in 313 at bats. He has driven in 87 runs, slugging .780. He's 2nd in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!

It's the 2nd time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Toronto's centerfielder Jason Holle. In 20 at bats he hit .650 with 1 HR and 7 RBI. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Kansas City where he left the field in the 12th inning. Spooneybarger was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. NEW YORK (A) - Howard Bacchus hits 'em where they ain't. New York (A) certainly agrees as Tampa Bay's centerfielder unloaded five hits, adding to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters in the game. His 1st hit, a three-run homerun off Timothy Stewart in the 2nd inning, landed an estimated 346 feet from home plate. A pitch from Ray White in the 8th inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 363 feet from home plate in left field. It's the 4th time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Toronto's leftfielder James Curry. Curry helped his team with an average of .462 and 9 RBI in 26 at bats. Kevin Edson wins his 8th Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. In 20 at bats he hit .550 with 6 HR and 14 RBI. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. Kevin has gone 101 for 287 (.352) this season, hitting 32 bombs and driving in 78 runs. He has scored 75 runs on his own. Thursday 7/7/2016: Lars Ulrich fires 1-hitter against Atlanta
ATLANTA - Great days are rare. But not for Los Angeles' southpaw Lars Ulrich. Atlanta found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 4th time he has done it in his career. Peter Mixon spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he doubled with no outs in the 7th inning. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Ulrich (6-2) struck out 6 and walked none, throwing 59 of 98 pitches for strikes. Akihisa Michinaga provided Los Angeles with the offense Ulrich needed as he stroked 2 hits in 4 AB, homering once, and driving in 2 runs. Los Angeles scored 4 runs on 9 hits.
 
Tuesday 7/5/2016: San Francisco's Torres out for 5-6 weeks
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's ace Joe Torres suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 4th of the game against Colorado he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Torres was examined by specialists. NEW YORK (A) - James Curry hits 'em where they ain't. New York (A) certainly agrees as Toronto's leftfielder unloaded five hits and hitting for the cycle. His 1st hit, a solo homerun off Benny Rondo in the 2nd inning, landed an estimated 433 feet from home plate. That one tied it at 1 runs apiece. A single in the 4th off Benny Rondo accounted for his 2nd hit. In the 6th inning he unloaded a RBI triple off Benny Rondo. In the 7th inning he belted a two-run double off Todd Quandt. Saturday 7/2/2016: Houston's Perez out for the season
HOUSTON - Houston's centerfielder Cosme Perez will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Houston and Cincinnati. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Perez collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. Torn Abdominal Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. His season numbers are: .305 AVG, 96 hits, 19 doubles, no triples and 10 taters, along with 51 RBI and 48 runs scored.
 
Friday 7/1/2016: Sisco (OAK) and Vladimir Jr. (CIN) win monthly pitcher award
Oakland's Andy Sisco had a terrific June, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. His ERA of just 1.70 helped him to a 5-1 record in June. He worked 42.1 innings, striking out 43 hitters while walking 21. This season Sisco compiled an ERA of 2.82, going 9-2 in 17 starts. He fanned 116 while giving up 80 hits in 115 innings. He has one complete game and one shutout. He's 3rd in the American League in ERA and 2nd in wins! Cincinnati's pitcher Markus Vladimir Jr. is the National League winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in June. He struck out 33 hitters in his 6 starts, putting together a record of 4-1 while pitching 33 innings. His ERA in June was 1.38. His ERA of 2.57 helped him to a 9-5 record this year. The American League Batter of the Month award goes to Edward Boice, Anaheim's starting centerfielder. Edward pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .317 with 8 and 30 RBI while slugging .624. His season features a batting average of .333 (99 hits in 297 AB), 15 doubles, 3 triples and 22 bombs. Boice collected 73 RBI and 62 runs as well. He's 1st in the American League in RBIs and 2nd in homeruns! Josh Hamilton of Milwaukee wins his 2nd Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the National League. CINCINNATI - Cincinnati's southpaw Bruce Isei will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against St. Louis on Tuesday. Cincinnati wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Isei had suffered a Torn Back Muscle. Opposing players hit .286 against Bruce this season. While posting an ERA of 4.01 he went 3-2 in 5 starts, fanning 22 and walking 16 hitters.
 
Tuesday 6/28/2016: Steven Lea homers three times against New York (A)
NEW YORK (A) - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. Texas' first baseman Steven Lea accomplished that feat in a 11-4 win over New York (A). His 1st blast, a solo homerun off Steven Balderas in the 4th inning, landed an estimated 413 feet from home plate. In the 5th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Steven Balderas. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to New York (N)'s Dan Lyons this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Sunday 6/26/2016: Armand Langan out for 6-7 weeks
FLORIDA - Florida's players were scared when they had to watch Armand Langan suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Philadelphia. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Langan will probaby miss 6-7 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Fractured Hip. Langan has walked 43 times this year and posts a .374 OBP. While batting .276, 75 for 272, he has driven in 53 runs.

CHICAGO (N) - Great days are rare. But not for Chicago (N)'s lefty Chris George. Atlanta found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 53rd time he has done it in his career. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' George (11-2) struck out an astounding 15 and walked none, throwing 80 of 121 pitches for strikes. Deon Colunga helped George at the plate, he stroked 2 hits in 5 AB, scoring 2 runs with 2 RBI. Chicago (N) improved its record to 43-34, scoring 8 runs on 9 hits.
 
Friday 6/24/2016: Toronto's Corey Patterson laces five hits
TORONTO - Corey Patterson saw the ball really well, leading Toronto to a 15-7 win over New York (A). His five hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Corey seemed happy as well after the game. His 1st hit was a RBI double off Timothy Stewart in the 1st inning. In the 7th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Daniel Vega. In the 8th inning he belted a RBI double off Ray White. He had singles in the 3rd and in the 5th inning (one RBI). Corey did drive in 4 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He is hitting .299 this season, with 12 HR and 46 RBI.
 
Thursday 6/23/2016: Huge blow for Cincinnati's Thomas, career over
CINCINNATI - It was one of baseball saddest days. Cincinnati's left-hander Brad Thomas fell victim to a career ending injury in a game against Arizona on Thursday. He complained about pain after throwing a pitch to Dallas MacPherson, then suddenly collapsed. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Torn Rotator Cuff Muscle. In 17 starts this year Brad struck out 110 batters in 95.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.40, his record 7-4. Brad has pitched one shutout and one complete game. His career featured a record of 230-111 with an ERA of 3.15. Baseball will certainly miss this great player.

Andrew C. Tschepe wins his 5th Player of the Week award. American League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Andrew C. pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .519 with 0 HR and 5 RBI while slugging .704. The National League's best player of the week was Milwaukee's Josh Hamilton, who wins the award for the 3rd time in his career. Josh went 11 for 21 (.524), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 11 RBI.
 
Tuesday 6/14/2016: Arizona's Dallas MacPherson laces 2000th career hit
ARIZONA - Arizona's Dallas MacPherson showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against New York (N) on Tuesday. His hit in the 7th inning was a two run homerun off Isaias Latta. In 14 years of big league action so far, Dallas has compiled a batting average of .274, along with 382 homeruns and 1230 RBI. 'This day is special, I'll probably remember it my whole life. Sunday 6/5/2016: Chicago (N)'s Jackson Melian gets milestone hit
CLEVELAND - Chicago (N)'s Jackson Melian showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against Cleveland on Sunday. Along with his 2000 hits, Jackson collected 203 homeruns and 951 RBI in 16 seasons. 'Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.' With two outs in the 5th inning, Jackson drilled a single, causing a standing ovation from the crowd.
 
Thursday 6/2/2016: David Tapp ropes four hits, completes cycle
CLEVELAND - David Tapp hits 'em where they ain't. Milwaukee certainly agrees as Cleveland's leftfielder unloaded four hits and hitting for the cycle. CLEVELAND - Jose Ortiz led Tampa Bay to a 13-2 win over Cleveland by squeezing five hits out of his bat. That's not the best part, though. He hit for the cycle as well! A single in the 2nd off Louis Davis accounted for his 1st hit. A single in the 4th off Louis Davis accounted for his 2nd hit. His 3rd hit, off Louis Davis in the 6th inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in right-center. In the 7th inning he unloaded a RBI triple off Tyler Chandler. A pitch from Tyler Chandler in the 9th inning left his bat for a double. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Jose scored 2 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 77 hits in 199 at bats, resulting in a .387 batting average. 44 players in league history have so far hit for the cycle, including Jose. On 4/4/2015, Jaime Ruggeri was the last player to hit for the cycle.

Sunday 5/22/2016: Oakland's Mulvaney out for the season
OAKLAND - Oakland's second baseman Gregory Mulvaney will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Oakland and Anaheim. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Mulvaney collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. Mulvaney was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament. This year Mulvaney drove in 33 and scored 27 runs while batting .349 with 8 longballs. He's 7th in the American League in batting!
 
Friday 5/20/2016: Chris George shuts out Cincinnati on 2 hits
CINCINNATI - Chris George had some fun again. Cincinnati hitters did not. Chicago (N)'s left-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 52 career shutouts in 426 games started. George (6-2) struck out 8 and walked 4, throwing 71 of 118 pitches for strikes. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' The hitting star for Chicago (N) was leftfielder Victor Marvin, he got 2 hits in 5 AB, hitting a homerun, scoring twice. Chicago (N) scored 4 runs on 9 hits.
 
Wednesday 5/18/2016: Milwaukee's Kevin Edson gets the cycle
ST. LOUIS - Kevin Edson hits 'em where they ain't. St. Louis certainly agrees as Milwaukee's third baseman unloaded four hits and hitting for the cycle. A pitch from Jimmy Gobble in the 1st inning left his bat for a RBI double. In the 2nd inning he unloaded a two-run triple off Jimmy Gobble. Number 3 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 437 feet, cleared the wall in right field. A single in the 8th off Celso Santos accounted for his 4th hit. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Kevin did drive in 6 while scoring 4 runs on his own. He's having a very good season so far, batting .408. Monday 5/16/2016: Player of the Week honors go to Mulvaney and Edson
Oakland's second baseman Gregory Mulvaney had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Gregory was on fire, hitting .609 with 0 HR and 11 RBI. Milwaukee's third baseman Kevin Edson had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National League Player of the Week. Kevin pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .400 with 4 HR and 8 RBI while slugging 1.050. While compiling an on base percentage of .518, Kevin hit .388 and slugged .868. He has collected 34 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 9th in RBI!
 
Thursday 5/12/2016: Kevin Stafford (COL) will miss 7 weeks
COLORADO - Colorado's rightfielder Kevin Stafford will miss at least 7 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. Stafford was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Strained Anterior Cruciate Ligament. Kevin is hitting .237 this year, with 41 hits in 173 at bats. He has driven in 29 runs, slugging .462.
 
Monday 5/9/2016: Tampa Bay's Lawrence wins Player of the Week award
Gerald Lawrence wins his 2nd Player of the Week award. American League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .458 with 10 RBI and slugged 1.083 in 24 at bats. While compiling an on base percentage of .341, Gerald hit .310 and slugged .627. He has collected 33 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the American League in RBIs and 2nd in homeruns! It's the 8th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Arizona's third baseman Dallas MacPherson. In 27 at bats he hit .333 with 5 HR and 11 RBI.
 
Saturday 5/7/2016: Gerald Lawrence homers three times against New York (A)
TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay beat New York (A) 13-5, but that was not the real story of the game. Gerald Lawrence was, as he went deep three times. His 1st shot, a two-run homerun off Todd Quandt in the 3rd inning, cleared the fence in left field. A pitch from Carlos Santos in the 5th inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 390 feet from home plate in right field. In the 6th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Gary Bernhardt. Gerald finished with 3 hits in 5 AB, scoring three runs and driving in 6 runs. In 5374 career at bats, he has hit 313 homeruns and collected 886 RBI. On 4/25/2016, Joshua Parrish was the last player to hit 3 dingers in a single game.

FLORIDA - It was a great day for San Francisco's right-hander Ernie Nunes. The 28-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Florida on Friday. NEW YORK (A) - Benny Rondo had his best stuff going, and Boston hitters had nothing to cheer about. New York (A)'s right-hander pitched a 2-hitter, his 2nd shutout of the season. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Rondo (3-2) struck out 4 and issued 2 BB, throwing 59 of 98 pitches for strikes. Edward Rosendahl helped Rondo at the plate, he stroked 1 hit in 3 AB, hitting a double. New York (A) scored 3 runs on 4 hits.
 
Monday 5/2/2016: Willie Delarosa pitches his 1st shutout of the season
COLORADO - Great days are rare. But not for Arizona's right-hander Willie Delarosa. Colorado found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 6th time he has done it in his career. Kevin Stafford spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with two outs in the 7th inning. Delarosa (3-2) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 1, throwing 88 pitches. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Arizona's third baseman Dallas MacPherson collected 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate, homering twice, hitting a double, scoring two runs and collecting 6 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Delarosa. Arizona scored 13 runs on 17 hits.
 
Monday 5/2/2016: Coello (KC) and Edson (MIL) win P.O.W. award
It's the 2nd time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Kansas City's third baseman Jeffrey Coello. Coello helped his team with an average of .526 and 7 RBI in 19 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to Milwaukee's Kevin Edson this time, as the third baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Edson helped his team with an average of .500 and 6 RBI in 18 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 12 games. His season features a batting average of .416 (37 hits in 89 AB), 9 doubles, no triples and 10 longballs. Edson collected 21 RBI and 25 runs as well. He's 1st in the National League in batting!
 
Sunday 5/1/2016: Reddish (TB) and McKibben (HOU) win monthly pitcher award
Winner of this months American League Pitcher of the Month award is Tampa Bay's Damien Reddish. He had an ERA of just 1.46 in 49.1 innings of work in which he struck out 25 hitters. His record in April is 4-0. Damien got two complete game shutouts as well! The best month of April in the National League certainly had Houston's right-hander Jonah McKibben, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. His record of 6-0 in 6 was among the leagues best this month. In 48 innings of work he allowed just 37 hits while striking out 30, compiling an ERA of just 0.56. Jonah got two complete game shutouts as well!
 
Sunday 5/1/2016: Red hot Boice and Edson win Batter of the Month award
The Batter of the Month award in the American League goes to Anaheim's Edward Boice this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Edward pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .363 with 11 and 24 RBI while slugging .725. The National League Batter of the Month award goes to Kevin Edson, Milwaukee's starting third baseman. Kevin was on fire, hitting .424 with 10 homeruns and 21 RBI.
 
Friday 4/29/2016: 5-hit performance by Montreal's Lance Whitehead
FLORIDA - Lance Whitehead is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 5 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself. A pitch from Tyrone Boyce in the 1st inning left his bat for a RBI double. A 454 foot drive to left field marked his 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Tyrone Boyce in the 5th inning. His 5th hit, a solo homerun off Nathaniel Lalonde in the 9th inning, cleared the fence in left field. He collected singles in the 3rd inning and in the 7th inning . Lance did drive in 3 while scoring 3 runs on his own. His 5 hit performance increases his batting average to .194. The final score of the game was 5-4.
 
Monday 4/25/2016: Joshua Parrish blisters three bombs
SAN FRANCISCO - Joshua Parrish was in a groove, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered San Francisco to a 7-3 win over Los Angeles by homering three times. Number 1 in the 1st inning, a shot estimated at 364 feet, cleared the wall in left field. His 2nd shot, off Julian Bejarano in the 6th inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in left-center. A 367 foot drive to left field marked his 3rd bomb, a solo homerun off Alberto Aguilar in the 8th inning. Joshua finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, with three runs scored and driving in 5 runs. His homerun total this year is 9, along with 17 RBI.
 
Monday 4/25/2016: Winston Sae out for 4-5 weeks
ARIZONA - Arizona's players were scared when they had to watch Winston Sae suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Colorado. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Sae will probaby miss 4-5 weeks. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Broken Finger which will require surgery. While compiling an on base percentage of .312, Winston hit .222 and slugged .333. He has collected 9 runs batted in this year.
 
Monday 4/25/2016: New York (N) has no chance in a 2-hitter by Willie Delarosa

ANAHEIM - Robert Cadet punished Anaheim's pitching today, collecting six hits in 6 AB. That definitely helped Oakland, they won the game 14 to 6. Number 2 in the 2nd inning accounted for a RBI double. His 4th hit, off Greg Miller in the 6th inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in left field. ST. LOUIS - St. Louis' hitters were dominated by Cincinnati's Markus Vladimir Jr.. He gave up just one hit in recording his 1st shutout of the season. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Vladimir Jr. (3-0) struck out 9 and walked 2, throwing 64 of 102 pitches for strikes. Cincinnati's first baseman Frederick Spraggins collected 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate, homering twice, scoring three runs and collecting 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Vladimir Jr.. Cincinnati improved its record to 14-7, scoring 5 runs on 10 hits.
 
Saturday 4/23/2016: Pat Strange (STL) will miss 7-8 weeks
ST. LOUIS - When it rains, it pours. St. Louis' right-hander Pat Strange will not pitch for at least 7-8 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Cincinnati where he left the field in the 5th inning. St. Louis wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Strange had suffered a Torn Tricep Muscle. His ERA of 8.85 helped him to a 0-3 record this year. He struck out 13 and walked 7 in 20.1 innings.
 
Thursday 4/21/2016: Los Angeles has no chance in a 1-hitter by Francisco Jimenez
LOS ANGELES - Milwaukee's right-hander Francisco Jimenez will never forget this day. The 30-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Los Angeles on Thursday. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Jimenez (2-1) struck out 3 and walked 3, throwing 56 of 100 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Milwaukee was second baseman Clarence Jones, he finished with 2 hits in 2 AB, blasting a homerun, scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 runs. The final score of the game was 9-0.
 
Thursday 4/21/2016: Jason Holle uncorks cycle hits against Kansas City
TORONTO - Jason Holle is a pretty good hitter, but his 4 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself considering that the hits added up to the cycle, one of the most difficult things to accomplish in baseball. His 1st hit was a three-run triple off Kerry Wood in the 1st inning. A single in the 4th off Gerald Wegner accounted for his 2nd hit. A pitch from Gerald Wegner in the 6th inning left his bat for a RBI double. In the 8th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Gerald Wegner. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Jason scored 3 runs, and he collected 6 RBI as well! His 4 hit performance increases his batting average to .243. He's now the 46th player in league history to hit for the cycle! Raymond Eaves was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 6/16/2015.
 
Wednesday 4/20/2016: Armand Langan slams 3 HR
FLORIDA - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. Florida's first baseman Armand Langan accomplished that feat in a 10-4 win over New York (N). A 404 foot drive to right-center marked his 1st bomb, a three-run homerun off Juan Munguia in the 3rd inning. Number 2 in the 5th inning, a shot estimated at 376 feet, cleared the wall in right field. His 3rd shot, a two-run homerun off Preston Mele in the 7th inning, cleared the fence in left-center. Armand went 4 for 4, scoring three runs and collecting 7 RBI. His homerun total this year is 5, along with 12 RBI.
 
Wednesday 4/20/2016: Warren Singh (CLE) will miss 7-8 weeks
CLEVELAND - Cleveland is without its ace Warren Singh for at least 7-8 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Lino Araoz in a game against Tampa Bay. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Singh was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Ruptured Elbow Ligament. Warren has a record of 1-1 this season, with an ERA of 2.45. In 25.2 Innings he was able to strike out 10 batters.

The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Cleveland's Orlando Molina this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Orlando pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .739 with 0 HR and 4 RBI while slugging .783. The National League Player of the Week award goes to Camilo Rubalcava, Cincinnati's starting third baseman. He had an on base percentage of .571 and hit .538, while driving in 11 runs.
 
Saturday 4/16/2016: Colorado has no chance in a NO-HITTER by Brad Thomas
CINCINNATI - Age doesn't matter. At least Cincinnati's left-hander Brad Thomas shares this opinion. The 38 year old pitched a no-hitter against Colorado, showing the great stuff that made him famous for years. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today, and it's especially nice to do it in such fashion.' Thomas (2-0) struck out an astounding 13 and walked none, throwing 76 of 120 pitches for strikes. Camilo Rubalcava helped Thomas at the plate, he went 3 for 5, blasting a homerun, with 6 RBI. The final score of the game was 13-0.

BOSTON - Boston's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, centerfielder Eugene Liu, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 5 weeks. KANSAS CITY - Minnesota's players had every reason to congratulate Nathan Haynes, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 2000th career hit! In 16 years of big league action so far, Nathan has compiled a batting average of .275, along with 258 homeruns and 1042 RBI. 'Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.' His hit in the 8th inning was a single off Scott Gilligan.
 
Tuesday 4/12/2016: John Stork quiets St. Louis bats with shutout
ST. LOUIS - All you need to win is a dominating pitching performance. And Chicago (N)'s John Stork did so today, in a 2-hit shutout against St. Louis. With one out in the 5th inning Kevin Truesdell singled to break up the no-hitter. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' Stork (1-2) struck out 9 and walked none, throwing 67 of 103 pitches for strikes. Chin-Feng Chen helped Stork at the plate, he went 2 for 4, hitting a homerun, hitting a double, scoring twice and driving in 2 runs. Chicago (N) scored 7 runs on 15 hits.

BOSTON - Josh Burrus got a standing ovation from 34217 fans in Boston, who witnessed his 2000th career hit. His best year so far was 2015 where he hit .305 with 7 homeruns and 62 RBI. 'Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.' With two outs in the 5th inning, Josh drilled a single, causing a standing ovation from the crowd.
